ENJOY MAKING DOLL CLOTHES

First Step to Making Doll Clothes

Hello! I'm Ryoko, a doll clothes designer.

While I usually share the joys of playing with dolls on Instagram and my blog, I wanted to convey the fun of "making clothes" even more, so I decided to open this course!

We'll start with making a simple dress that covers the basics ⋆˙⟡

Eventually, I'll share information that "only I can provide," based on my experience of starting from scratch and reaching this point, including how to make delicate real clothes, the behind-the-scenes of doll clothes making, and how to turn a hobby into a business.

Why not take your first step with me here?

Here's this kit's educational materials!

HARU URARA

To celebrate the opening of the course, I've created a special patterned dress kit⋆˙⟡
A spring-colored design that you'll want to photograph under the cherry blossoms🌸
With a pattern scaled for a small doll's body,
it's easy to make yet looks intricately designed.
This is a limited-edition design created exclusively for this course.

Kit fabric image

This is what the fabric for the kit we're sending you looks like. Since I had some space, I included a new color and pattern for the scarf! ♡

It's a fun kit that makes you excited to cut along the outlines of the parts like a craft and then sew them together with a machine ♪

List of items to prepare before the course

We've created a page listing the tools and equipment you'll need for the course. Generally, what you already have on hand will be fine, but we hope this list will be helpful if you need to purchase anything missing. All items can be bought on Amazon or Rakuten.

"What if I make a mistake?"
This additional benefit was created in response to such concerns.

The main focus of this course is to help you "enjoy completing a garment from start to finish." Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact us if you encounter any difficulties. Let's finish it together!

Even if you can't participate in real-time, it's OK!

Enrollment for archived video lectures is welcome!

Can't make it on the day?
Your schedule might change later?
Such individuals are also very welcome!

After the course ends, we will send you an archive video via email, typically within about an hour, so you can take the course by watching the recorded video.

Testimonials from Participants

Here are some comments from participants in our "First Doll Dress Workshop" held on Friday, April 10, 2026!

50s / Never made doll clothes before

I was completely satisfied and felt like I was falling into a rabbit hole, as the instructor patiently, slowly, and clearly taught me about tools I'd never heard of before, like Fray Check and glue, as well as how to cut and sew, and so much more, all perfect for a beginner!

This time, I joined the workshop through Instagram, and it felt like I got a glimpse into a new world. The instructor was wonderful, an excellent teacher, and I was amazed at how accomplished she was at such a young age. It was a meaningful and enjoyable time. Thank you very much.

50s / Beginner at making doll clothes

I love making clothes for Licca-chan dolls and have bought many books, but there weren't many designs I wanted to make. I tried to create my own patterns by watching YouTube and buying pattern-making textbooks, but the more I watched, the more questions arose. Even though I tried making them in my own way, I was left with a lot of confusion. They taught me much more thoroughly than I expected, and they even asked what else I wanted to learn, so I'm incredibly excited. I'm completely satisfied!

30s / Experienced doll clothes maker

It was very insightful to see the actual workroom and tools being used. It was also good to learn tips that are not usually detailed in sewing books.

This added depth to my hobby, which used to consist of just following sewing books. I rediscovered the joy of making clothes for dolls myself. I would like to use what I learned this time to make doll clothes. I would definitely like to participate again if there is a next time.

50s / Beginner at making doll clothes

Ryoko-sensei's detailed explanations and enjoyable talks were great.

I learned so much about tricks not found in crafting books, and how to do sleeves and gathers, which I'm usually not good at. Also, the 1.5mm seam allowance!

I always used to sew at the recommended 2.4mm on my machine because I didn't know better, but adjusting it to 1.5mm this time made it so much easier to sew, it was truly an eye-opener. I'm very satisfied that I learned so many fundamental things💕

Before, I used to make things mostly on my own, referring to crafting books, and often struggled. But when I tried making something the next day, remembering what I learned from my notes, it was really fun. I felt so satisfied, and now I have an even stronger desire to make more. I can't wait to see what's next! 😊

50s / Beginner at making doll clothes

It was my first time taking a doll clothes making course, but there were so many "Ah, so that's how you do it!" moments, especially regarding small details and tips, like "Piqué before cutting!" The kit was great because it already included seam allowances, so all I had to do was cut, and the bonus scarf was a nice touch! The pattern was also lovely!

Thank you for teaching me so many different tips.

I've always enjoyed sewing with a machine, but I've only ever made T-shirts for dolls, so today I truly found myself saying "Aha!" as I watched.

30s / Experienced doll clothes seller

It's great to be able to see in person the parts that are difficult to understand just by looking at books for self-study. There are many lessons and schools in the city, but it's not easy for those of us in the countryside to attend, so online lessons are very helpful! I've taken several of Ryoko-san's courses, and each time I'm happy to learn new things and tips, such as recommended tools.

To a life where your passions can grow every day.

Making doll clothes is more than just sewing garments.

It expands your doll's world, fosters the joy of planning outfits, and can even connect you with others through your creations.

Life is surely much more enjoyable when the things you love gradually expand.

I hope this course can be your "first step" into that world.

Instructor Profile

Ryoko

Doll clothes designer / Ryoko Baba, Representative of mimi décor

It all started with "making doll clothes as a hobby." I thought it would be fun if I could make the clothes I wanted for my favorite doll with my own hands. That was the trigger for me to start making doll clothes.

Of course, at first, nothing went well. The shapes didn't turn out as I imagined, and I struggled with making small-sized clothes... Nevertheless, as I continued to create through trial and error, I began to experience the joy of "someone appreciating the clothes I made." From there, I gradually started selling my works and have continued my activities as a doll clothes designer.

Fortunately, many people have seen my work on Instagram, and I've also received commissions for corporate projects and costume production for exhibitions.
